This BTN article was about the first fleet. Three facts I got from the article where 11 ships where apart of the first fleet, 6 carried convicts, 2 where navy ships and 3 had supplies. The first fleet left Portsmouth, England on the 13th of May 1787 and arrived on 19th of January 11788 at Botany Bay. Over 700 convicts were on the trip to Australia and about 17 children as well. Two questions I have are, where there people travelling from other countries and that was why there were some many people in England? And why where the English law so strict at that time of history? A understanding I have is that the first fleet was much bigger than I thought it was.

This BTN article was about when the English can to Australia and what the Aboriginals thought of them.

Three facts I got from the article where the English brought cows to Australia. Smoke keeps mosquitoes away and the Aboriginal called the English the ghost people or the boat people. Two questions I have after watching the article where what did the boat people do to the aboriginals and what did the aboriginals make there tents out off. A understanding I have after the article was the aboriginals where scared of the English.

This BTN was about the rocks in space. Three facts I got from the article were Comets are chunks of ice and dust which come from the cold, outer parts of the solar system, Asteroids are made of rock or metal. Tens of thousands of them lie in an area called the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter but some travel closer to Earth and Meteoroids are smaller chunks of asteroids and millions of them enter the Earth’s atmosphere every day. When they do we call them meteors. Two understandings I got from the article were there are lots of rocks in space and there not all made of the same substance. A question I have after watching the article was do they crash into the moon.

This BTN article was about the war in Vietnam. Three facts I got from this article are North Vietnam was led by people who believed in communism. That’s a system where all citizens work for the government, and in return rely on the government to provide for them. Many in South Vietnam on the other hand didn’t want to live like that.so they had a war, throughout the war almost 60,000 Australians served. But not all of them volunteered. Many were conscripted, which means they were forced to go, through a giant nation-wide lottery. Any 20-year old men in the country could be picked if their birthday was drawn in the draft and All up 521 Aussies died and more than 3000 were wounded in the fighting. Two understandings I got from this article was that people didn’t want to go to war again and Vietnam has two parts the north and the south. A question I have after watching this article was why did the USA start to help South Vietnam.

This BTN article was about the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile. Three facts I got from this article are in 2010 there were two earthquakes in two months one was in Haiti and one was in Chile, on the island of Haiti an estimated 250,000 people were killed and many more injured and in Chile he earthquake was 500 times more powerful but not as many people were killed. That is because Chile is in the ring of fire so they are prepared for earthquakes y making their buildings stronger and earthquakes are measured in what is called the Richter scale. Two understandings I got from this article are Haiti is a much poorer than Chile and the Richter scale is a very important thing that measures earthquakes. One question I have is what is the most powerful earthquake ever recorded?
